This year, the focus of all Feeding Liverpool’s Network Gatherings will be the theme of sustainability.
For the first meeting of the year, two speakers have been invited from Sheffield to talk about the various ways they have made their food support financially sustainable.
René Meijer is the CEO of Food Works Sheffield – a social enterprise that aspires to create a more sustainable and fair food system. Food Works operate a wide range of food activities and have found different ways of generating revenue in order to keep their organisation financially sustainable.
Mikey Whitson is an organiser with Cooperation Town and helps to set up neighbourhood food cooperatives, which are entirely member-led and collectivise food buying through high community engagement.
Agenda:
11:30am – 12:30pm: Initial welcome and presentation from speakers
12:30pm – 1pm: Free lunch
1pm – 2pm: Workshopping the different models and how Liverpool groups can adopt some of these practices
